About the artist

Mark Davy-Jones born 1963

Mark Davy-JonesMark Davy-Jones is at the cutting edge of sensual digital art. Mark creates unique works of art combining his traditional fine art skills with the latest techniques in photography, montage and graphic manipulation.

“My aim is to create individual artworks that are beautiful and thought provoking, hopefully more than just erotic images. I like to experiment and try out new techniques.”

His artworks are all based on his own photographs, often elaborately constructed and provocative images in themselves. Later in the process he works these into finished artworks suitable for digital reproduction and limited editions. He uses Nikon camera and lenses, a 2013 27 inch iMac with retina screen and works mainly with Lightroom 5, Photoshop and Illustrator version CC.

“I am not your conventional photographer and I do very little commercial work. I enjoy developing concepts and exploring new ideas at whatever level I chose to work at; from fashion to fine art to adult it’s all art to me.”

Much of his work has explored themes suggested by great artists ranging from Rembrandt to Klimt via Botticelli, and in 2013 he spent much of his time developing his skills in fashion photography – the results of which have yet to be developed, so keep watching this space!

Currently living on the Isle of Wight in Ryde he often finds inspiration in the local landscape and wildlife.

“I use a lot of locations around my Island and whenever I travel I always look for models and photo opportunities along the way.”

Mark originally trained as an illustrator at Kingston University and later went on to develop a successful career as a graphic designer.

Mark’s work has been exhibited extensively and most recently in 2013 at Gallery Liverpool and The Menier Gallery in London.
